A SITE TO LEARN ABOUT DIPG/DMG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma/diffuse midline glioma) AND WAYS YOU CAN HELP US FIND A CURE
Lucy Sieck, often referred to as "LucyLove," was a vibrant 6-year-old girl from North Carolina who tragically passed away from Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive and inoperable brain cancer, in 2020. Lucy was known for her love of rainbows, basketball, and all things glittery. Her diagnosis came during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and despite her family's best efforts, she passed away just five months after her diagnosis, on Friday, November 13, 2020 – just three weeks before her 7thbirthday.
Lucy’s family, in her honor, founded the LucyLove organization, as a Family Partner with the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation, to raise awareness and funds for DIPG research. The mission of LucyLove is to advocate for, educate about, and fundraise to fight against DIPG, as well as support other families affected by pediatric cancer. Events like the LucyLove Rainbow Run are part of their efforts to keep Lucy’s memory alive and to continue the fight against this devastating disease.
Lucy’s quote, from a Kindergarten homework assignment, has become a tagline for us, as what could be better than Rainbows and Peace for all?!
“I love rainbows. Rainbows give happiness to everyone! It shares peace!” ~ Lucy Sieck, 6
While our extended family spreads far and wide, our LucyLove household consists of Angel Lucy Sieck (forever 6), younger brother Charlie (8), and parents Raegen Sieck (Mommy) and Brian Sieck (Daddy). Along with our fur babies: Ruger, Goldilocks, Tiger and Dusty.
Our LucyLove story began in 2020, when our sparkling 6 year old daughter, Lucy, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain-stem tumor called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG. After only 5 1/2 months, Lucy's fight was over, but our war against DIPG wages on with fury!
The LucyLove mission is to advocate, educate and fundraise to continue our war against DIPG/DMG while supporting other families that are currently battling, or have previously battled, this horrific disease, and other forms of pediatric cancer. Together we WILL defeat DIPG/DMG!
